Research Programs To Get Involved With: Enhance Your Learning Experience

I think research is a GREAT way to learn more about the physical therapy field. Although, it might not be an interest to some, and its not required. It helped me personally learn more and I had a fantastic time doing it! Even if you are not sure if research is for you - check out these awesome programs then decide!

1. Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) -I did this program over a summer. I lived at UIC and worked with a PT professor in who worked in the pediatrics area. You do research with them over the summer it could be you working on their research and developing your own question or coming up with you own research with their guidance. It pays you a stipend of $4000 over the course of the summer. It was seriously the best experience I have ever had. I learned so much and developed my love for research. I still keep in touch with my mentor often and she has written me letters of recommendation for various things. It is a program designed for students who are interested in research. Heres the link for the application and more information:

-Marquette University has a really cool summer program where you get to stay there take some PT graduate school classes and learn about their program I think you paid a small amount of money a friend of mine did it and LOVED it :

3. Find a research program at school! So many schools offer undergraduate research programs and can find a faculty member to work with you. Some even pay you to do it!

There are also more programs as well - if you find any let me know I'll add it to the list.
